  1. Dyna, surely in the last and third last Boolean searches you show, the results could include (say) Joseph Smith and Mark Tanner but not necessarily Joseph Tanner?

  2. Dyna, I find Boolean searches very difficult. In your last and third last examples, for instance, these could surely give results for Joseph Smith and Mark Tanner in a reference. But not necessarily Joseph Tanner?

I am using http://www.fultonhistory.com, a compendium of New York Newspapers from the late 1700s to the late 1900s. Trying to find a birth announcement or even a death announcement since the child died at an early age in Syracuse, NY..
